One of my favorite authors, Madeleine L'Engle, has died.

"God says, 'I love you! I love you enough to come and be with you. And because I live forever, you will, too.'"(Penguins and Golden Calves, 35)

I was sad to read this, but I learned so much about her from her obituary. I was amazed to find out that she had worked for many years as the librarian for the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York, in addition to being their author-in-residence. There's just something that says so much about a person who is known around the world, and takes the time to give of their time toiling away in a cathedral library (which for her, I'm sure, was not toiling).

I've only read one of her books ("Wrinkle in Time"), but it was so long ago that I really don't remember anything about it. Maybe as my daughters get older and start expanding what they read, we can rediscover her writing together.
