Savannah Christmas Pt 1

On the road to Savannah, we followed the Gulf Coast thru Mississippi and Florida. We saw the devastation left by Katrina.

We stayed at this Days Inn on our last trip through here.

We toured the U.S.S. Alabama in Mobile, AL. Amazing to imagine the action on this ship during WWII. Can you imagine the feet that made those marks on the stairs?

Dolphin watching! No pictures of the dolphins--that's like trying to take a picture of lightening!

And the whole reason we went to Savannah for Christmas~

We stayed on Tybee Island outside of Savannah. I can't say enough about waking up to an ocean sunrise. Brilliant...I asked for one good storm while we were there, and it got there on Christmas morning! Giant crashing waves, driving rain- just like the movies--only I was there!

And my crazy girls! Wonder where they get that? Remember, it's December!

Part ll Soon!

Thanks, Bob. If you want to tour historic Savannah, there are some inns and hotels right in the heart of downtown. Lots of tours (pirate, ghost, historic), too.On Tybee, you're on your own,but we love the ocean.

Oh, the pictures of the Alabama made me homesick for the Gulf Coast. My wife and I lived in Mobile for almost 10 years, about 10 minutes from that very site. I was back down there in November for a few days -- things have changed so much.

Adn if you've gone to Savannah, then certainly you've read "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil." My uncle used to be the head of a hospital down that way, and that book was required reading for all of us.

Looking forward to more pictures!

That is on my book list (since I went the first time 2 years ago). New Year's Resolution--read it!
